Emergency garage door help in Bonita Springs, day or night

A door stuck open as the sun goes down, a car shut in on the morning of a flight, a door hanging from one cable: call (239) 880-9274. During that call we explain what's safe while you wait and give you the window when we can get there, and if a night visit costs extra, you hear that too, before anyone drives over.

When it can't wait until morning

  • The door refuses to come down, and the house has to be locked up tonight.
  • The car you need is inside and the opener won't lift the door.
  • The door came down hard, hangs crooked, or a cable is loose and swinging. Our page on off-track doors explains why it shouldn't be moved.
  • A spring broke with a loud crack, and the door sits dead. More on that under spring repair.
  • A storm is coming, the door refuses to shut or lock, or a section is pushed in so it can't seal.
  • Anything else can usually wait for a daytime visit, and our troubleshooting guide helps you sort which is which.

Until we get there

With a broken spring or cable, don't force the door either way; its weight can drop fast and with no warning. Unplug the motor from its ceiling socket so no remote can start it. With the door stuck up, put tools and bikes out of sight and lock the inside door from the garage to the house. If the car is trapped and both springs look intact, you can release the door with the red handle while it's fully down and lift from the bottom edge; if it resists, stop.

What the call sounds like

Your call gets answered, day or night. We'll want to know what the door did and what you can see above it, ask for a photo if you can take one, and give you a time window. The first job at the house is a door that's safe and shut. If the full repair needs a part we don't carry, you'll have the price on paper and a date for the return visit, and the door stays secured until then. Complete repairs and new doors are booked Monday to Saturday.

If you're away and the person watching the house finds it open, they can call from the driveway while you approve the work by text.

Storm on the way

When a storm is forecast and your door won't shut, lock or seal, call the moment you notice rather than the night before landfall; the last days before a storm are the busiest of the year for anyone who fixes doors. An open or broken garage door lets wind into the house, which makes it the one repair worth getting ahead of. If the door has no wind rating at all, read about impact garage doors once the weather clears.

Permit

Securing a door that night is a stopgap, not construction. For the repair that follows, we check with the city's building department first, since Bonita Springs' list of work exempt from permits (Sec. 10-21) doesn't mention garage doors.

Questions people ask in an emergency

Yes. Your call to (239) 880-9274 gets answered day or night, with advice on what's safe right away and a time window. If a night visit carries an extra charge, you hear it on that call, before anyone drives out.

Better not. Without a working spring the door carries its full weight, and once released it can come down fast. Cut the opener's power, keep everyone clear of the opening and call; we'll bring it down and lock it safely.

If neither spring is broken, pull down the red handle on the opener rail while the door is fully closed, then lift from the bottom; it should rise with steady effort. If it's too heavy, or a spring has snapped, stop and call. Getting the car out can be our first task, with the repair quoted on its own.

Sometimes, when the part is on the truck and it's safe to work. More often the door is made safe and shut that night and the full repair is booked in daylight, Monday to Saturday. Either way, the price is on paper before anything starts.
