Garage door rollers and tracks in Bonita Springs, set straight
Rollers are the little wheels riding inside the tracks, usually ten on a standard door. When they rust or wear flat, the door shakes, grinds and makes the opener work harder. A fresh set is one of the shorter jobs we do.

Signs the rollers or tracks are the problem
- The door shakes or wobbles as it travels.
- Grinding or clicking at the same spot every time; our noisy door page covers the other sounds.
- Rollers with flat spots, chipped wheels, or bearings too rusty to spin.
- A track that's bent, loose at its wall brackets, or out of line with the door.
- The door slows down or catches in the same place.
Steel or nylon
Plenty of doors in Bonita still run on the bare steel rollers they came with. In salt air those rust, lose their bearings and start to grind. Nylon rollers with sealed bearings run quieter and won't rust; steel ones are tough and cost less. The written quote prices both, so you choose. Worn rollers also wear the hinges they sit in, so we check those while we're there.
Getting the tracks back in line
A track that's shifted even slightly can make the door bind. We check each one with a level, tighten the brackets into the wall, straighten small bends and replace a track that's kinked. The door then runs by hand and on the opener, and you get photos of the old rollers next to the new ones. If the door left its track entirely, that's a different job: see off-track doors.

Permit
Bonita Springs' list of work exempt from permits (Sec. 10-21) doesn't mention garage door rollers or tracks, so we check with the city's building department first and tell you their answer.
Roller and track questions
There's no fixed calendar; rollers are due when they stop spinning smoothly, crack or grind. Bare steel rollers near the water usually go first, because rust gets into the bearings.
For most homes near the coast, nylon rollers with sealed bearings are the quieter choice and don't rust. Steel rollers are sturdy and less expensive. We quote both and let you pick.
The middle rollers, with care, yes. The bottom ones sit in brackets connected to the lift cables, which carry spring tension, so leave those to a technician.
